Fine Arts Education

St. Anne Catholic School loves the arts! The Shea Center for Fine Arts and Administration gives students a great space to express themselves artistically and musically. All students beginning in PreK 3 attend art and music classes. By the time students reach 7th and 8th grade, they are able to choose their fine arts electives. Each spring, the school hosts an Evening of the Arts which showcases students’ art and musical talents in an evening open house.

Music:

Beginning in third grade, students have the opportunity to sing in the St. Anne Children’s Choir. The students sing for Masses and special events throughout the year. The choir regularly performs for special events in our Archdiocesan community and in Houston. Recent performances include the Catholic Charities Cardinals’ Christmas and Christmas Concert with Bay Area Chorus at the Villa de Matel, among others. In junior high, students may take music electives such as Show Choir and Percussion of Latin America.

Art:

In all grades, students compete in the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Contest. At the junior high level, students can compete in various on-site and pre-submitted art contests. Elective art classes range from Painting to 3D Art and Ceramics. The art department has a beautiful space with a kiln for ceramics and a loom for weaving.

Drama:

Students in junior high are given the opportunity to be a part of an annual dramatic production. Additionally, students may take Theatre Arts and /or Speech as an elective course. Past productions have included Annie, Wonka Jr., and this year, The Wizard of Oz.
